Selection Criteria – Supporting Submissions
In 2016 FDCA commissioned the Social Policy Research Centre at the University of New South Wales to undertake the Perspectives on Quality in Australian Family Day Care research project. From this project we have established an evidence base of key foundations that underpin quality in FDC including professional practice, relationships, flexibility, autonomy and diversity and social support.
It is these underpinnings that inform the themes of our FDCA 2018 National Conference, and which, along with FDCA’s Perspectives on Quality in Australian Family Day Care resource shape the criteria for the 2018 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards.
Submissions received by educators will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- How the educator demonstrates professional practice in their work as a family day care educator.
- How the relationships the educator has developed with children and families influence quality outcomes for children in their family day care and how they foster and strengthen these relationships.
- How the educator embraces flexibility, and the diversity of children and families in their family day care, and how this supports quality outcomes for children.
Additional criteria for the Star Awards
The Emerging Star - The winner of the award must have started family day care after 1 January 2016.
The Perpetual Star - The winner of the award must have been registered with the family day care sector for a period of at least 15 years.
